The mental health and wellness of my students is top of mind even more now than ever. The COVID pandemic, local school shootings, and bullying on social media are just a few stressors our children face in today's world. Therefore, I have made it my personal and professional mission to grow my knowledge, understanding, and teaching strategies to support my students through mindfulness, social/emotional learning, and yoga. I have begun a 95-hour professional development training that is evidence-based, CASEL-aligned, and standards-based focused on growing my skills as an educator. The social and emotional welfare of my students will be supported through my training and growth. Once I complete this course and implement the practices I learn into my students' daily routines, I expect they will experience a reduction in anxiety, gain skills to cope with stress, and gain social skills to improve their relationships. I am excited to help improve the wellbeing of my community.
